Chuck Mates® are quick-connect tire chucks from SKÖG® TOOLS. You thread your inflator’s screw-on hose onto a Chuck Mate once, then connect it to each valve stem in a second. Platinum uses patented RatchetSeal™ technology with a push-button release. Premium uses SimpleSeal™, a brass open-type speed clip on the NPT variant.

What problem do Chuck Mates solve?
They replace the thread-on, thread-off routine of a screw-on inflator hose. Most portable inflators end in a screw-on chuck that threads onto the valve stem. That means twisting it on at every tire and hearing air hiss while you twist it off. As the SKOG FAQ puts it, you screw the inflator onto a Chuck Mate instead “and never have to screw around with it again.”
A speed clip and a quick-connect are the same thing. The SKOG FAQ uses both terms for the function of a Chuck Mate.
What is the difference between Platinum and Premium?
Both are open-flow quick-connects for portable inflators. They differ in how they connect and release. Platinum is a push-on design with a release button. Premium is a solid brass speed designed clip with a finger trigger for both application and removal of the chuck from a tire stem.

RatchetSeal™ is the patented push-on locking mechanism used across the Platinum Series, including the SKÖG® Platinum Tire Gauge’s chuck and the Flex360 extension. SimpleSeal™ is the Premium Series seal design for the NPT variants, which SKOG describes as “No Teflon Tape Required.”
Which one should you choose?
Pick by how you like to connect. Both do the same job on a portable inflator.
- Choose Platinum if you want the convenient push-on with the patented RatchetSeal™
- Choose Premium if you prefer a more traditional trigger-style mechanism and the solid brass construction.

How do you set up a Chuck Mate on a portable inflator?
Screw the inflator’s hose onto the Chuck Mate once and leave it on. It is the last time you will have to screw that hose on and off your tire stems, aren’t you glad? After that, you only connect and disconnect at the valve stem:
- Thread the inflator’s screw-on hose end onto the Chuck Mate, the same way you would thread it onto a valve stem.
- Remove the valve cap from the tire.
- Push the Chuck Mate onto the valve stem. Platinum pushes on and locks; Premium clips on.
- Run the inflator to the cold pressure on your Tire and Loading Information placard.
- Switch the inflator off, release the Chuck Mate (Platinum: press the button), and replace the cap.
